Two weeks ago, our shiny new apprentices started working with the team at West Country Tiling. Meet Jake Lock and Ellis Power, both from Frome. We think they’re worthy of apprentice top trumps status.
Brimming with enthusiasm, but blurry eyed from the 6am wake up calls, these lads have already started to learn a trade that will last them a lifetime.
Our Apprenticeship Scheme
At West Country Tiling we take pride in our apprentice scheme. It allows young people to learn on the job, earn a living wage and get a collage qualification. Once our apprentices have shown aptitude for the work and a willingness to learn, we cover the cost of sending them to college. They will study Roof Slating and Tiling at South Devon College, a two-year course that gives them an NVQ qualification.
We take the safety and wellbeing of our young apprentices, and all the team at West Country Tiling, very seriously. Nowadays, as well as delivering training on working safely at height, all the team must observe the government and industry guidelines on social distancing, hand hygiene and PPE use to ensure our sites remain COVID free.
We’re really excited about having Jake and Ellis on-board and are looking forward to seeing them progress and learn over the coming months and years.
