About West Country Tiling

All of our master craftsmen serve a formal apprenticeship in roof slating and tiling. Once this three year training is completed, they continue their on-site development working under an experienced master craftsman for several years. During this period they will attend two residential lead-working courses run by the Lead Sheet Association to develop these skills.

We prefer our master craftsmen to take ownership of the roof that they are working on and that can only be achieved if they have carried out all of the work – carpentry, roofing and leadwork. This also avoids any overlap of different trades, which can often cause potential weak areas on the roof.

Once these first six years of their training has been completed, they will often choose a speciality roof covering, for example stone slate roofing, they can then continue their development of this skillset.

We have a very good record of long-term employees, this way we can establish not only excellent site practises but also good site behaviour – something that is very important to our clients.

This excellence on-site behaviour is backed up by a professionally operated company with in-house Health & Safety specialists to ensure that your project runs without a hitch.

The earlier we are able to start the planning and preparation of your project, the smoother the project can run. So please feel free to contact us to discuss any aspect of your potential roofing project.
